Job Purpose

Honda’s Sustainability and Business Development Business Unit is responsible for delivering Honda’s Triple Zero goals of 100% carbon neutral products and operations, 100% clean energy for the entire value chain including product in-use, and 100% resource circularity using recycled and sustainably sourced materials. Electric vehicles are key to achieving this vision, and establishing Honda’s role in the electricity ecosystem is the core reason for this position.
This role is a leader of Data Value Creation Unit in EV Charging Solutions team. Removing customer anxiety and improving CX/UX is the key success factor of EV proliferation and wide adoption. This role collects and combines customer, vehicle, digital platform data to create unique value to our customers and Honda business. The lead support business expert to set data project objective and business hypothesis. The lead manages challenging complex data project to deliver agile PoC and validate hypothesis. The lead develops value creation strategy, propose and gain approval by executive leadership.
The lead should have extensive communication skill to bridge project stakeholders as business expert may not be familiar with data and data expert has limited understanding of business domain and knowledge. It is important connect business and data expert and avoid any misunderstanding or over expectation and set mutual project goal. To achieve the goal, clear value creation process and evaluation scheme has to be developed. The lead act as data consultant for business expert to consult any data question or inquiry and support to achieve their business objective from data utilization context.

Key Accountabilities

Data Value Creation Strategy, Planning & Execution

  • Develop data value creation strategy, propose it to executive leadership and gain approval. Based on strategy, create execution plan. Collect key data use cases, support business expert to set hypothesis and seek means to deliver agile PoC and validate hypothesis. Identify mission critical data source and organize it as necessary with support by IT and data engineering team.

Business Expert Support

  • Support business expert to breakdown business goal and objective, identify key data use case and/or business hypothesis that can be achieved by power of data. Support business expert, who may not be familiar with data analytics and tools, and to judge PoC if it meets business objective.

Communication with external partners:

  • Proactively look for collaboration opportunities and request for support if it meets business objective and agile timeline. Behave as a data consultant for business expert to show external stakeholders who is helpful to solve data issue.

Executive leadership report:

  • Energy Monthly Report
  • IT Theme Quarterly Business Review
  • BU & Division Quarterly Business Review
  • FY2024 Report and FY2025 Business Plan Proposal at the end of fiscal year

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • BA/BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, System Engineering, Information Engineering, or relevant engineering degrees. MBA is plus. 
  • A miniumm of twelve years of experience in Data analytics, data science, data utilization work experience 
  • More than 5 years of large project management experience 
  • More than 3 years at an Auto OEM Other Job-Specific Skills 
  • Deep familiarity with customer data, marketing data, survey data
  • Waterfall Project Management 
  • Agile Project Management

Workstyle

  • Travel: 10% travel to suppliers and/or other Honda offices
  • 50% Remote / 50% Office
