Job Purpose

  • The Digital Purchase Experience Value Stream is working to build customer loyalty by improving customer satisfaction and creating promoters around digital purchasing. We will transform the customer experience across all channels and improve associate & dealer experience through the improvement of systems, processes, and capabilities.   • This Product Owner will create and manage action plans and milestones independently, for  multiple small to medium scale product(s). This role translates the wishes of stakeholders into understandable language for the Development Team to interpret and take action.  This leadership role also sets direction and prioritizes work, removing impediments when necessary.
  • This role will lead Agile Product Team within the Digital Purchase Experience Value Stream. Responsibilities include: Represent and advocate for the Business in strategic planning, product development and solution management that are in alignment with stakeholder AHM Business Units (Automobile Sales & Marketing-Honda, Acura; Powersports Products, Power Equipment & Marine, IT and AHFC) corporate strategies.  
  • Working with leadership, owns critical decisions such as business goals, scope, and desired outcomes
  • Delivers high, consistent value (release mgmt); successful completion of releases
  • This position requires extensive collaboration with AHM associates, IT, consultants, contingent workforce, and vendors.

Key Accountabilities

Create, manage and cultivate product team plans
•    Support Release Train and scrum team of small to medium scale products via Product Increment (PI) planning, managing the product definition and implementation.
•    Leadership in defining the backlog and product development details, and maintaining release velocity.
•    Prioritize and manage backlog and implementation, ensure product execution meets strategy and requirements and refine features into user stories and story acceptance criteria.
•    Partner with CX Leadership/Value Stream Owner and business units to understand and influence product strategy and roadmaps, aggregate and conceive ideas for enhancing product performance and achieving product success/KPIs. 
•    Maintain quality standards and process documentation, participate in Sprint Reviews and Retrospectives as a key member of the CX Department and the scrum team.

Lead Product Development and Operation as Product Owner
•    Takes full responsibility for the definition, approach, facilitation and satisfactory completion of small to medium scale products (with business impact and firm deadlines). 
•    Identifies, assesses, and manages risk to the success of the project. Ensures that realistic project plans are maintained and ensures regular and accurate communication to stakeholders. 
•    Ensures quality reviews occur on schedule and according to procedure. 
•    Manages the project procedures and ensures that project deliverables are completed within agreed cost, timescale and resource budgets, and are signed off. 
•    Provides effective leadership to the project team, and takes appropriate action where team performance deviates from agreed tolerances. 
•    Reviews analysis and performance monitoring for specified products. Supports problem resolution, resolves issues and acts on feedback and usage of in-life products. 
•    Contributes to product collateral and monitors results and feedback from product launches. Responsible for one or more products, depending upon the product’s complexity.

Lead Engagement with Business Units, CX Division, Marketing & Digital Services Leadership
•    Coordinate plans with assigned business units to ensure needs are documented and addressed.  Work with CX leadership to acquire resources, coordinate efforts and address requirements.

Advance agile processes
•    Contribute to the enterprise’s Agile transformation by adopting and spreading knowledge of agile principles and processes.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent professional experience supported by subject matter training.  Advanced degree and/or additional experience would be helpful.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience as a product owner or similar role.
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience 
  • Requires and applies a knowledge of business, product performance and industry principles, practices, and procedures. 
  • Demonstrate strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills that can be applied across a diverse set of audiences.
  • Knowledge of or experience in working cross-functionally ideally with a variety of different domains, including IT, Finance, and Business Development. 
  • Experience with JIRA
  • Experience with Agile work methodologies.
  • Automotive OEM experience
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills. 
  • Curious, questioning skills to gain understanding and build support.
  • Adaptable with proven track record of growing responsibilities.
  • Experience with using Net Promoter Score (or customer satisfaction) data to identify opportunities & measure continuous improvement.
  • Able to coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously.
    • Strong organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong analytical, organizational and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers as well as non-technical and technical personnel.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Skilled at questioning, using evidence to persuade.
  • Ability to manage complex initiatives with multiple elements and stakeholders.
  • Ability to gather/refine complex business requirements, recommend or make decisions on business requirements/interdependencies.
  • Ability to present complex positions and strategies for business decisions, processes and plans.
  • Ability to work effectively with AHM staff, IT staff, 3rd party vendor staff.
  • Ability to interact with other Honda company's personnel, builds strong relationships at all levels and across all business units and organizations, and understands business imperatives.
  • Knowledge of SAFe agile as a specific Agile work methodology.
