Job Purpose
The primary mission of this position is to lead activities related to equipment characteristic improvement for the Ohio Transmission Plant, High Pressure Die Cast Department. This will be accomplished by performing true root cause analysis of top problems and implementing countermeasures.
The goal is to facilitate department S, Q, and D metric target achievement.
Key Accountabilities
Manufacturing Equipment Expert:
Equipment top problem root cause analysis and permanent countermeasure.
Collect, analyze, and summarize information and trends related to equipment performance.
Identify improvement opportunities for Key Performance Indicators and for cost avoidance/elimination.
Become an expert in a specific area of automation technology (i.e. PLC, Motion Control, Robotics, etc…) Then, train associates on equipment or process changes.
Lifecycle management of manufacturing equipment. (Spare Parts, Procedures, PMs)
Project Management: Define and create scope of design and construction for renovation, upgrade of existing electrical systems, or for build of a new system with a focus on cost control. Conduct PDCA during design and implementation stage. Create, implement and maintain project schedules and achieve desired results.
Review, verify and approve electrical engineering drawings at the various design completion levels. Work with and manage contractors' activities throughout the different phases of a project.
New Technology: Use manufacturing expertise to support company’s development of new processes.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Educational Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent related experience
Minimum Experience
If BSEE, then 0yrs. If Experience only, then 6 years in related field.
Other Job-Specific Skills
Ability to interact in a team environment, PLC Programming, Robotics, Vision Systems, electrical controls, safety systems, servo motor, VFD control, AutoCAD electrical design, MS Office

Decisions Expected
Determine department equipment strategy and plans to strengthen business characteristics.
Determine appropriate methods to renew and install equipment in order to mitigate risk to current operations.
Working Conditions
Work at the spot, in the factory
50% Office environment, 50% Production Floor environment
About 2 weeks of travel domestic and international and 300-500 hours of OT annually
