Job Purpose
Lead, create, test, and implement smart factory solutions to improve QCD characteristics by programming, configuring, and validating communication between industrial control systems and software programs, including but not limited to, Activeplant, DeviceWise, Kepware, and MDT Autosave.
Key Accountabilities
Design processes monitoring equipment conditions related to QCD using controllers (PLC, CNC, Servo, etc) and software programs to improve business characteristics.
• Programming PLCs, develop ladder logic, and develop function blocks for smart factory applications (Activplant, DeviceWise, Kepware)
• Configuring new assets (Machines, robots, conveyors), assign Kepware tags to data sets, importing code templates based on equipment functionality
• Validate that PLC, CNC controllers, Robots, Kepware, and Activplant systems (Hardware & Software) are communicating effectively with each other for data collection & reporting.
• Design & develop reports utilizing Activplant and other analytics software applications to provide customer(s) with data collected to drive characteristic improvements.
• Lead requests for MDT configuration used to backup code/programs for PLC, Robot, and other industrial control systems (ICS). Set IP address for ICS, backup ICS programs, program MDT to communicate with ICS.
• Lead or support OT team with IOT/Smart Factory applications both with programming/configuration & training
• Lead regular status and communication meetings with TMP-O department representatives. Collaborate with production engineering teams and North American smart factory leads on best practices, improvements to enhance the system.
• Test, evaluate, and implement new and innovative technologies to improve overall equipment and process efficiency
• Develop capability of self, team, and customers through training, mentoring, and sharing of experiences in area of technical expertise and understanding.
• Evaluate benefits, department usage tracking, collaborate with departments to build relationships. Gain customer voice to ensure that issues and concerns are known. Create and present reports monthly at department and plant level
• Utilize data analysis and PDCA to lead, support, develop and justify solution within department & customer departments for area of responsibility to solve complex problems.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Educational Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor degree in engineering or related technical field
Minimum Experience
2-8 years of manufacturing experience years with strong understanding of industrial control systems.
Understanding of equipment PLCs programming/coding, ladder logic, and functions blocks, Communication protocols (UDP/TCP network communication and setup. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Execute / delegated project plans; team / department communication, schedule, data validation.

Working Conditions
This position is on-site at TMP-O, occasional remote work based on approval.
Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to all Honda safety policies.
Overtime based on need, 4-8 hr. / weekly.
Ability to adjust shift for business or customer support.
Plan, communicate and verify system upgrades and outages with AHM IS, business stakeholders and leadership team as need based on scope and impact.
Occasional travel for training, Honda site visits and weekend work support based on required tasks or workload.
