Job Purpose: 

Lead the development of engineering solutions and deliver early planning with agility and cost competitiveness across Product, Process and Tooling to improve N.A. stamping manufacturing characteristics and achieve design intent. Function as Person-In-Charge (PIC) of stamping new model feasibility for multiple parts and stamping DE lead for minor model project.

 

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Leads advance Body Frame Stamping product feasibility from styling sketch through 1st drawing issue for New Model Body in White construction. Creates part data proposals, tool process plan specification and rough layout using CAE simulation and CAD. Reports technical criteria to Category Technical Expert and New Model Project Leadership.
  • Conceives and leads the development of New Model Stamping Tooling specifications/process plan from 1st drawing to Die GO. Provide direct technical guidance and oversight to downstream customers to ensure successful design and production deliverables are met. Monitors Design Change through drawing maturation.
  • Completes checks for manufacturing stamping new model equipment verification check list and drawing maturation requirements.
  • Supports or leads complex manufacturing category problem analysis, determine root causes, recommend corrective action, and consults on SAP (Specific Action Plan) in the New Model development.
  • Support business plan improvement activity and assist in milestone achievement.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance to less experienced engineers.

 

 

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical or Industrial) or equivalent related experience
  • 5+ years relevant full-time engineering experience or equivalent, strong knowledge of equipment/tool new model, strong knowledge of automotive production facilities
  • Problem solving analysis and breakdown to root cause
  • Expert knowledge of Honda New Model development and Manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of automotive sheet metal forming
  • MS Office, CATIA V5, CATIA V6, and AutoForm proficient

 

 

Working Conditions:

  • 10% Travel
  • 5 to 10 hours of OT per week
  • Primarily office environment, with capability to work on the production floor and in tooling production to understand equipment and Plant perspective
