Job Purpose

 

Design processes for safe and efficient automotive frame assembly.  Use analytic tools and traditional industrial engineering methods to optimize Paint Line production functions.

 


Key Accountabilities

 

  • Confirm manufacturing process impact through Design Development timing. Complete process and manpower studies correlating to design development data and drawing releases, as well as DE correlation. 
  • Use M.O.S.T. to develop balanced processes across manufacturing areas.  Work to achieve Maximum Process Efficiency.  Apply Lean Manufacturing techniques.  Design processes that are simple and achieve SQCDM targets.
  • Maintain and update manpower status and impact for factory – current manufacturing in comparison to design development impact. Report for evaluation timings. 
  • Perform time estimates for line work, equipment loads and develop Operation Standards.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste within the process and improve efficiency. Apply 5S work methods, workstation design, and set best practices for production.
  • Correlate and communicate development plans to MMC process member to ensure T-stage readiness.
  • Evaluate and implement ergonomic countermeasures to prevent associate injury.
  • Support New Model Events. Forecast design impact to department.  Incorporate change points into process design. Identify concerns and countermeasure before mass production.
  • Develop Plans and Schedules for projects.  Set timelines and detailed activities. Hold meetings with cross functional engineering groups to ensure completeness.
  • Project support for all items impacting Paint department’s Associate Process.
  • Collect feedback from MMC organization and production floor to address concerns. Utilize feedback with future design development.
  • Create charts and presentations to report status and plans for key department metrics.

 

 

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing) or 8 years related experience in engineering
  • 2-4 years of experience
  • Excel VBA, Standard Time Evaluation, Workstation Design, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Customer Service.

 

 

Workstyle

 

  • Generally first shift production hours, occasional split/second shift support required.  0-5 hours OT weekly.
  • 50% Fast-paced high-energy manufacturing environment, 50% office environment.
