Job Purpose

Durability Test Coordinator works with Durability Project Leaders to lead and execute vehicle durability test preparation, execution, and analysis to ensure that vehicles meet customer expectations.  Supports business targets and maintains global vehicle product quality. 

 

Key Accountabilities

Test Execution and Management

  • Test CBUs ATV/SxS prototype vehicles with minimal supervision. Identify, analyse, summarize & communicate test problems/concerns/results to Project Leaders and Technical Expert
    • Preparation: Understand test schedules/objectives, assemble prototype vehicle, perform checks and maintenance, coordinate team inspection events
    • Testing: Complete daily vehicle inspection, test/drive prototype ATV/SxS following defined test standards, monitor test course conditions, complete daily test summary documents, manage test drivers, and wash vehicles as necessary.  Communicate any irregularities or problems clearly and in a timely manner.
    • Post Process: Complete vehicle disassembly, inspect/analyse parts, and coordinate team inspections
    • Operate data acquisition equipment, including set up, instrumentation, and data retrieval and perform basic analysis

Manpower Coordination (Indirect Personnel Lead)

  • Manage defined test project schedules; coordinate and balance individual work for self and multiple other technicians to ensure deadlines are met.  Communicate resource needs with supervisor, identify schedule concerns, and effectively utilize contingent resources with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure Durability testing is performed safely and accurately, considering schedule.
  • Orient and train new contingent technicians, creating know-how guides and manuals.

General Operations

  • Maintain test lab, test equipment and tools; minimize downtime, maintain cleanliness, and keep safe/organized working area.
  • Coordination internal/external test facility needs, including test scheduling, arranging maintenance & repair requests, and monitoring test course conditions for accuracy/safety.
  • Manage test part retention and destruction standards.
  • Act as Safety Leader for function group.  Ensure appropriate measures and systems are in place for safe operation.  Support periodic safety audits.  Propose and implement improvements to enhance safety.  
  • Generate basic ideas that contribute to the evolution of new technologies/capabilities. Support maturation of ideas or processes to increase overall efficiency and prepare for development applications with minimal supervision. 

 

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Associate Degree in science/engineering/automotive preferred or 5-7+ years of applicable working experience 
  • 1-2 years of mechanic/technician experience, preferably in the Powersports industry
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, etc.) 
  • Competent mechanical skills
  • Competent troubleshooting, problem solving, decision-making, and prioritization
  • Competent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to interact/communicate effectively with supervisors and project leaders
  • Capable data acquisition and laboratory skills/techniques
  • Capable of understanding development objectives, project cycles, and milestones
  • Competent in creating a plan and schedule
  • Competent time management skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality

 

Working Conditions

  • Travel: Up to 30% may be required. Amount varies based on project demands/responsibilities, time of year, etc.; includes possible overseas travel.
  • Physical: Primarily in a test vehicle on or around a test course.  Frequent driving/testing, kneeling, standing, reaching, squatting, bending, pushing and lifting.  Some physical effort required (pushing 50+ pounds; lifting 25–50 pounds).
  • Hazards: Risks found in a typical office & shop setting, risks associated with operating a prototype ATV/SxS in various environmental conditions. 
  • Overtime: Overtime and or weekend work may be expected based on project demands/responsibilities, test schedules, and off-site testing.
  • Maintains professional conduct and follows all departmental/company policies, procedures, and rules.
