Job Purpose

The Senior Procurement Specialist and Team Lead through leadership, theme development, strategic management and stakeholder alignment is responsible to bring spend within their category under procurement management. The Senior Procurement Specialist and Team Lead is also responsible to lead a team of Procurement Specialists in their respective category vertical to achieve savings targets, provide best value to stakeholders, and contribute to company profitability. Additionally, the Senior Procurement Specialist and Team Lead will regularly engage with the business stakeholder community, establish and lead strategies to achieve optimal cost reduction, and ensure the management of supplier relationships and risk. The Senior Procurement Specialist and Team Lead is directly responsible for owning the relationships with key site and business unit leadership. The Senior Procurement Specialist and Team Lead will be responsible for the development/implementation of sourcing strategies and collaboration with internal business partners and suppliers to reduce risks and costs for Honda. The Senior Procurement Specialist and Team Lead is also accountable to assign key initiatives/themes to team members by noting expertise and monitoring workload and results. The Senior Procurement Specialist and Team Lead is accountable to identify, set, and manage metrics to hold their team and their suppliers accountable for performance and delivery. The Senior Procurement Specialist and Team Lead will drive results through the creation and management of competitive bidding processes and analyzation of data and market trends. The Senior Procurement Specialist and Team Lead actively drives the continuous improvement of regional Procurement processes and tools. The Senior Procurement Specialist and Team Lead is responsible for long term planning for the category, creating/driving/implementing initiatives, communicating and influencing customers and suppliers at all levels. The Senior Procurement Specialist and Team Lead must work collaboratively, exhibit a strong sense of urgency to meet customer timelines, exhibit an intense curiosity/learning drive, successfully operate in a fast-paced environment, engage/influence key stakeholders, be extremely customer-focused, and consistently display a high level of business acumen. Must be able to successfully manage multiple projects, as well as timely completion to meet the business’ objectives. The Senior Procurement Specialist and Team Lead is ultimately responsible for assessing / reporting their team’s results/achievements, identifying high performers, growing their team, providing training to challenge/grow the team, and leading by example in all facets of the category’s work. The Senior Procurement Specialist and Team Lead will have decision-making authority for the category vertical and is responsible to align the team and their activities with the Category Manager/Unit Lead’s direction, strategy, and goals.
 

Key Accountabilities

  • Strategically assign initiatives to team members and monitor/document performance and results.
  • Accountable to develop team, identify high-performance, manage performance, provide tools and training to enhance the team’s skillset, and provide leadership to develop associates and achieve category vertical’s goals.
  • Responsible for Supplier Performance/Development/Risk/Support Segmentation.
  • Develop/Execute/Implement the Strategic Sourcing Function in Alignment with Category.
  • Lead the team to establish and meet category SEQCDM performance targets and measures, monitor progress, and implement countermeasures when necessary.
  • Responsible For Category’s Legal and Commercial Supplier Contracts Executed to Protect Honda and Business Users.
  • Lead project implementation and oversee projects and business plan items, monitors progress and adjusts direction as needed.
  • Effectively sell ideas, negotiate, collaborate, and build consensus across Honda North America sites (Mfg., Sales, R&D) 
  • Apply key customer (upstream, downstream, and end-user) viewpoint in all category activities.  Establish, understand, and communicate Total Cost of Ownership to all parties.
  • Build a network of productive relationships across HAM / Honda North America to achieve category plans and targets.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 6-10 years of experience in either a Purchasing and/or Procurement related role or in a field where job knowledge & skills are applicable based on education
  • Basic computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Familiarity with SAP, ARIBA, or Major ERP System(s).
  • Strong leadership capabilities and associate development focus
  • Strong communication skills to various audiences

Working Conditions

  • Up to 25% Travel – ability to travel on short notice for N.A. support
  • 10 Hours per week OT
