Job Purpose
Act on behalf of the Paint Department Lead for Mass Production Quality and New Model Development Quality (Quality Confirmation and beyond), by ensuring the execution of the Outstanding Quality (OQ) Flow, leading / promoting a strong quality cultural mindset, setting Department direction, and evaluating overall quality achievement to exceed customer expectations.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead Paint Department Quality Maturation (Hinjuku) activity from Quality Confirmation (QC) event to gain an early understanding of challenges and drive problem a) containment b) resolution c) reoccurrence prevention prior to Mass Production through the model life cycle
- Lead and coordinate cross-department activity for complex items to accelerate root cause analysis and countermeasure speed
- Drive and promote PDCA of department business plan and significant department characteristic change points (i.e.: ramp up/ramp down, export production, innovation) to ensure alignment of customer requirements to department strategies
- Advise New Model Department E-evaluations and readiness events to assure quality A00 target achievement at each evaluation step (on behalf of Department Lead)
- Lead and report department Quality Safety Declaration (QSD) to ensure readiness for Mass Production start-up and/or department characteristic change points
- Drive utilization of Outstanding Quality (OQ) Flow components during mass production to ensure problem resolution, ensure process capability, and future New Model reflections
- Review and approve manufacturing control points for entire department prior to GO release to ensure capability of equipment, die, and process to eliminate any loss potential.
- Oversee department Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance to Honda quality standards and government regulations.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent related experience
- A minimum of 12 Years of relevant experience, based on education
- Knowledge of manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of engineering principles as it relates to areas of Quality & New Model
- Strong interpersonal skills
- High-impact communication skills
Workstyle
- Ability to travel, both domestic and international
- Weekend and Holiday work may be required
- Moderate lifting may be required.
- Independent, conscientious worker that is able to make appropriate decisions toward problem solving
- Can balance multiple priorities and clearly communicate project status to management and production
- Able to work with a diversity of associates without creating barriers or conflict
