Job Purpose

The Steel Department is responsible for the management of the Honda Raw Material Supply System for Steel products.  The Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating department activities to promote better customer service and ensured profitability.  The Supervisor will manage growth by continuously improving processes, systems, and staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.  

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage controllable income statement and balance sheet items such as sales, c.o.g.s., operating expenses, interest expense and inventory to maximize profitability while operating within HAM/HTA supply system guidelines.
  • Discuss open positions and post job descriptions. Review resumes, interview candidates, & select final candidate.
  • Utilize the marketing principle to understand, meet and exceed our customers’ expectations. Communicate with management of each customer regularly to gain an understanding of challenges faced in supply chain.  
  • Achieve targeted QCDDM performance with supply base.  Foster teamwork with supply base by utilizing fair and ethical business practices. Communicate regularly to share vision of HTA/ HAM expectations and give balanced performance feedback. Develop understanding of benefits realized by both supplier and customer in relationship. 
  • Ensure clear procedures and systems are in place to efficiently support the operations; encourage continuous improvements on a daily basis.  Regularly compare the cost and benefit of each activity set to identify improvement areas.
  • Support the monthly/annual budget process from the sales side and/ or cost side of the business including utilizing knowledge of the past performance and future images from the customer base, Honda organizations along with your own ideas.
  • Clear communication w/ associates including weekly department meetings, continuous and concise updates to management.
  • Complete thorough analysis of associate performance yearly based on HTA guidelines. Assign development plan that target specific areas of improvement.  Communicate regularly (formally and informally) to continuously review progress. Encourage teamwork & harmonious relationships between associates.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • BS/BA in Business or equivalent work experience (Required)
  • 3+ years of experience in Supply Chain management leadership; Honda’s Raw Material Supply System (RMSS) operations, or equivalent.
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Demonstrates customer service skills
  • Aptitude to break down business processes
  • Conflict management skills
  • History of success in dealing with new environments, unknown situations, meeting new people.
