Job Purpose
Work as part of a multi-discipline team to introduce and implement equipment required for new model introduction into Honda facilities. By leveraging 3D CAD software and simulation tools, they will need to identify key change points, and summarize into a specification that fixes design requirements. The associate will be asked to study and support equipment across all of Frame and Power Unit Assembly. Associates will need to collaborate with the design team and plant members in order to achieve required quality, cost, and safety criteria
Key Accountabilities
- Review New Model Car part data for application into existing equipment and process or for new machine /process development
- Machine or tooling concept creation utilizing 3D CAD software and 3D robotic simulation software
- Creation of Specification documentation to summarize changepoints, establish criteria and process/part flow
- Lead meetings with customers both upstream and downstream to gain consensus
- Create and maintain a critical path schedule to maintain overall project milestones
- Conduct On-Site investigations of Mfg Lines and facilities
- Provide on-site support to install/modify equipment to validate criteria is achieved and stable production can be achieved
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Required Education:
- 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or 2-year Engineering degree with related experience
Required Experience:
- 2-term Co-op or internship in the field of Degree
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of 3D CAD systems and software
- Background in automated equipment development
- Excellent technical communication skills (both written and oral)
Additional Position Factors
- 85% Office environment – creation of specification documentation.
- 15% Manufacturing floor – direct line side investigation / system-up support / verification at any Honda facility
- Must be willing to travel locally, regional, and internationally as required on a project basis (to Honda facilities or external equipment vendors).
