Job Summary:
The Strategic Buyer is accountable for the Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Risk Management of suppliers and categories within their scope. The chosen candidate will be responsible to continuously secure supplier QDC performance by using their cross-functional network to achieve business goals and mitigate risk to our business.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Achieve annual cost improvement goals.
- Accurate and timely quotation management.
- Effective supplier relationship management.
- Research and monitor industry trends (sourcing, technology, market price).
- Develop, gain approval & execute purchasing strategies for assigned commodities and suppliers.
- Maintain SAP system, RFQ issue and Quote review requirements.
- Ability to analyze cost calculation and cost drivers and use them to evaluate, develop and delivery cost reduction strategies.
- Negotiate pricing with suppliers and process quotations.
- Establish logical new model cost targets.
- Achieve cost targets through effective supplier selection and negotiation.
- Ability to negotiate contracts with suppliers to achieve bottom line results.
- Ability to assesses the financial viability and risk of suppliers.
- Attends trade shows, product exhibitions, and conferences to maintain current understanding of new products and trends.
- Ability to analyze drawings.
- Ability to execute accurate and timely Supplier evaluation and selection.
- Experienced in developing and presenting a clear and concise proposal.
- Knowledge of specific commodity's parts/suppliers & industry trends
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Efficient typing skills, with an emphasis on accuracy and legal aspects of purchasing.
- Ability to compile information and make decisions.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to negotiate based on logic.
- Ability to manage cost.
- Ability to manage customer / supplier relationships.
- Prior experience in aerospace or other disruptive manufacturing industries
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience with AS9100, US export controls
- Comfortable working in a team environment
- Proactive and self-motivated contributor.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required, with preference on, Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or Economic related discipline preferred.
- 3 years Purchasing, Materials, Sales, Quality or Engineering experience or 2 years Honda Purchasing, Materials, Quality or Engineering experience (in both cases Purch. experience is preferred):
