Job Purpose
Lead paint materials development (Pretreat, sealant, and paint coatings) from R&D (Research and Development) to production application through strategic planning and execution to achieve product specifications and key SEQDCM metrics to exceed customer expectations.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop, implement, and manage materials plans to achieve new model, plant, and department objectives.
- Develop material budgets and track cost expenditures against department and plant targets.
- Support new color development trials in body paint with the ability to adjust programming to achieve desired results.
- B-Shift contact for all issues related to production materials.
- Monitor titration levels and material flow for phosphate and E-coat system tanks.
- Support and execute root-cause problem analysis and quality improvement activities related to phosphate, E-coat, sealer, deadener, primer, and topcoat materials.
- Material group liaison to all Paint Innovation related projects.
- Mentor and develop capability of new materials group and paint mix members through teaching and training.
- Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly team tasks are completed on time. Summarize results and report to Department Leadership
- Support all Global Ooperation driven material changes and ensure all materials meet spec within line and plant characteristics.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (e.g. Chemical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering) or equivalent relevant experience .
- 2-8 years of experience based on education
- Complex problem analysis skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word), Time management
Working Conditions
- Primarily B-shift role, with some flexibility in schedule
- Ability to travel, both domestic and international
- 0-5 hours of overtime per week possible
- Weekend and Holiday work may be required
- 50/50% Standing vs. sitting
- Shutdown work may be required
