Job Purpose: 

The Plant Technical Lead (PTL) will be stationed at a specific plant location and will be the champion to link the complex analysis and countermeasure effectiveness between the production support and supplier assurance. The PTL will provide a plant specific technical solution for complex part analysis and related issues while interfacing across the regional Purchasing Technical Division and other Business Units to meet HDMA quality targets which include quick resolution, proactive communication, and activities for prevention of issues. 

 

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Direct Dept./Unit/Team in shifting focus and work to meet strategic objectives and provide feedback to leaders
  • Serve as a technical expert, sharing knowledge formally and informally with others. Provide technical feedback to both the production support and supplier assurance departments.
  • Oversee and manage complex issues impacting models at respective Plant and evaluate countermeasure effectiveness at the site.
  • Communicate within Purchasing Technical Division and other Business Units for quick resolution.
  • Build advanced technical and business knowledge.
  • Apply expertise in technical operations to impact decisions at Dept./Unit level.
  • Embrace and apply innovations that impact multiple areas.

 

 

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or applicable work experience
  • 8+ years of experience based on education
  • Application of Honda Philosophy
  • Understand and apply company/regulation standards (Supplier Quality Manual (SQM), GQMS, QMS, FMVSS, etc.)
  • Highly effective communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong understanding of characteristic weaknesses
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to build consensus for key process improvements with different departments & groups
  • Ability to understand part drawings, specifications and applications

 

 

Working Conditions:

  • Ability and potential to travel 5% of the time
  • Average overtime hours are 3-5 hours per week
  • This position is a mixture of working on the production floor, in an office, or other required area
