Job Purpose

 

This roles mission statement is to “Advance our ability to improve supply chain stability with a single and efficient regional mindset.” This contributes to maintaining strong delivery characteristics with a regional viewpoint in order to support smooth production operations across North American manufacturing facilities ensuring customer satisfaction.
Under limited supervision, responsible for leading, performing and assessing supplier capacity and countermeasure for OEM Suppliers.  Managing supplier performance, in addition to other duties not specified but required for production and/or other core business activities. Participates in broad scope projects and handles complex supplier situations.
Approach to job:
Collaborate with Suppliers and other Honda Business Units to effectiviely lead cap up activity
Minimize supplier touchpoints thru optimizing activity. 
Clearly summarize each supplier situation so issue, impact, root cause and CM are clearly communicated

 

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Lead / Perform situation appraisal and analysis of a supplier capacity on a specific part or assembly process (Tooling / Equipment Spec / Part, Drawing Spec or Evaluation / OEE / Volume Assessment / SAP development, Etc.).  Manage and correlate capacity output.
  • Coordinate and lead supplier labeling and capacity readiness during cap-up project. Lead implementation of immediate corrective action plan (short and long-term) at suppliers and report to Management on activity.,
  • Complete reporting and Gemba activity for root cause analysis / countermeasure implementation to solve complex problems w/ attention to closure speed and effectiveness
  • Strive for continuous improvement through cycling Plan Do Check Action (PDCA) for area of responsibility (Capacity and/or Special projects) to ensure associate success 
  • Support company vision through Business Plan, KPI, and other Business Unit initiatives in areas of knowledge and technical expertise 

 

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

 

  • Minimum Educational Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Average Experience
    • 2-8  years of relevant engineering 
  • Qualification Status
    • Meets or Exceeds Exempt Career Level 4 requirements
  • Other Job-Specific Skills
    • Manufacturing process knowledge (stamping, welding, assembly, material flow, electronics, injection molding, paint, casting, machining, etc)
    • Honda systems knowledge (nars / cms / gpcs)
    • Strong project management and problem-solving skills

 

Workstyle

 

  • Strong Sense of urgency and flexibility to respond to critical issues and unplanned risk events
  • Ability to travel at moments notice to confirm supplier situation at the spot (25% time)
  • Ability to work in an open office environment, at a suppliers operations, or conduct business virtually where expectations are maintained.
  • Hybrid office work environment (80% in house/20% remote)
  • Ability to work 1st,2nd, or 3rd shift in a limited basis to support on-site supplier crisis.
  • Ability to work up to 5-15 hours OT each week as needed
