Job Purpose

The New Model Prototype led will lead the prototype assembly of engines in both an offline and online environment. This position will be responsible for evaluating product change points and identifying the impact to guarantee consistent implementation of Quality assurance.  This position will also be responsible for managing the New Model build events through developing and creating supporting documents to ensure the correct quality practices are upheld.  The associate will be required to support the identification of potential safety and quality problems and determine potential concerns for maintaining a smooth production flow. This position will report to the New Model project Lead and will manage Staff and trainer responsibilities for New Model build events.

Key Accountabilities

  • Evaluate part drawings, process layout, critical fastener assessment and other technical documents to create and maintain a quality assurance matrix for each model to assure comprehensive quality control measures are in place to guarantee product quality.
  • Create, issue and maintain the required control documents and assure they are executed and completed to guarantee product quality by assigning proper responsible associates.
  • Lead and support the quality inspection and necessary correction of quality concerns.
  • Provide leadership and quality judgement for product quality at all build events.
  • Develop and maintain repair related documents based on specification review and changepoints.
  • Report to NM Unit Lead and Quality Lead regarding maturation progress and potential concerns.
  • Follow up on Quality related project punch list items
  • Create, track and report event repair and inspection results. With future CM’s throughout NM events.
  • Coordinate the inspection items based off of past problems and Change points
  • Manage new model build room and repair tools to achieve offline/ online NM event build completion with no affect to testing or frame build schedules.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s or associates degree in a related field or equivalent related job experience
  • 0-4 years of related experience
  • Self-motivated and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem solving/ root cause analysis skills
  • Capable of leading and teaching others
  • Capable of communicating information to diverse groups of associates including production associates and engineers

Working Conditions

  • 5-10 hours/ OT per week
  • Domestic travel 1-3 times per year, 1-3 days long, and occasional day trips to Ohio Honda locations
  • International travel is possible up to 2 weeks at a time, multiple times a year
  • Manufacturing environment with multiple model knowledge with high pace workload
