Job Purpose

The National Field Service Manager position is responsible for leading the field service team to ensure high customer satisfaction through extensive and focused service information exchanges with marine dealers, retail customers and other departments within the organization. This includes the strategic development and execution of technical service metrics that support dealer service department optimization, service training delivery, service publications creation, and problem resolution for our dealers and retail customers. This position will also create business growth initiatives to enhance the dealer network strength and autonomous operational efficiency. The National Field Service Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining policies and procedures to direct the success of field service activities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide clear strategic and tactical direction to Marine field service associates. Develop and execute resource allocation plan to ensure efficient utilization of the team to achieve organizational and departmental goals. Assign and track goals for each associate and provide leadership as needed to ensure 100% goal achievement.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement strategies to enhance the efficiency of field service operations, ultimately reducing customer downtime and increasing productivity.
  • Direct and manage key stakeholders in the identification of gaps that exist in Honda Marine offerings to our Dealers and OEM customers. Lead the team to create new business opportunities to create service component sales to these customers. Manage the pricing strategy and execution of rollout of products to the industry.
  • Create the service level standards, key accountabilities, and operational initiatives for assigned associates. Report on Field Service Unit operational status, direction, and progress of support activities to Department and Divisional leaders to support the execution of the customer service support to dealers and retail customers.
  • Support the business interests of Honda Marine globally by going to the spot, attending trade shows and industry technical events, and reporting out to local and global key stakeholders.
     

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • College degree (or equivalent experience) in one of the following areas: Engineering, Industrial Technology, or Business Administration, along with a minimum of 10 years experience in the marine (or related) industry
  • Minimum 10 years experience in the marine (or related) industry, including field service experience, technical training experience, Boat & Engine integration experience, and a minimum 5 years management experience
  • Strong technical aptitude and technical training communication skills. Good working knowledge of marine products, marine rigging, marine internal combustion engines and marine drive lines.
  • Manage people and complex issues is an essential part of this position. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate on any level with internal or external personnel. Strong skills in negotiation and motivation is a must.
  • Ability to operate and train on key Marine precision measuring equipment and engine monitoring equipment. Working knowledge of P/C computer systems and all common office program applications for reporting and presentations
